Anxiety

An overwhelming feeling of panic and hopelessness washes over you….your heart is racing, your sweating, you can’t stop thinking about your job, your schoolwork, your checkbook, your scale, your Facebook account, your parents, your boyfriend….

It’s too much to handle alone.

Everyone feels a certain amount of anxiety, and it can often be good-a motivator on a test, perhaps.  But sometimes anxiety can take over, and make you feel out of control, leading to racing thoughts, physical symptoms, and panic attacks.

Anxiety can be one of the scariest and overwhelming emotions to deal with.  Luckily, therapy has been proven to be effective in the treatment of anxiety, alleviating your immediate symptoms and creating long term methods to manage these feelings, and keep your anxiety in check!

Binge Eating Disorder, or BED

BED is a very real problem that affects over  4 million Americans.  You may feel out of control around food, obsessed and ravenous.  A binge can go on for hours….leaving you depressed and drained.  The cycle of binge eating can be stopped-but not by dieting.

A new treatment for BED has emerged…intuitive eating.  In its most simple terms, intuitive eating is trusting your body’s natural hunger for food:  learning to tune in and listen-eat what you want, eat when you’re hungry, stop when you’re full.  It seems simple, but this process can be daunting.

Counseling can help you recognize the reasons WHY you eat, and help you address them in a real way.  Together, we can focus on whole health rather than weight loss….a goal that will mean more for you and your loved ones, as you embrace life differently.

Depression

You’re on the couch, watching Bridezilla’s again.  You’ve seen this one.  Three times.  May as well go back to bed.  Eat some ice cream.  Too tired for the gym, too tired to call a friend….no one would get it anyway.  And it’s only Monday.

You could be depressed.  I see it again and again, women who are taking care of everything and everyone…and when they get a moment to themselves, depression’s voice speaks up and takes over.

But there’s hope.  Recognizing that depression is an issue is half of the battle.  Together, we can look at the signs and symptoms, and make some changes in your life that will alleviate this moodiness, and teach you some skills to manage these feelings out of sessions!

Relationship Issues

Communication in relationships is key.  Oftentimes, partners have trouble understanding each other, not only verbally, but also in their actions.  Individual therapy can provide you with a solid non-judgmental place to discuss your relationship issues, and help you discover new ways to get through to your partner.  If you are having issues that are causing you to consider separating, therapy is a great place to start.

If you are in couples counseling, or thinking about couples counseling, it is also recommended that you are both in separate individual counseling in conjunction with your couple’s work.  If we begin to work individually and we decided couple’s counseling may be helpful, I work with several amazing relationship experts that can assist us.
